1. Homemade weed killer.

Recipe: 1 gallon white vinegar; 2 cups Epsom Salts; 1/4 cup Dawn (blue original). Spray on weeds in the morning and they’ll be dead at night.

2. The best bubble blow.

Recipe: 1/2 cup Ultra Dawn 1/2 gallon warm water 1 tablespoon glycerin (available at any drug store) OR White Karo syrup works too! Stir gently. Skim the foam off the top of the solution (too much foam breaks down the bubbles). Dip bubble wand and get ready for some good, clean fun! Use to make giant bubbles by making a bubble stick from a clothes hanger.

3. The best window cleaner.

Recipe: 2 cups water; 1/4 cup white vinegar; 1/2 tsp Dawn dish detergent. Add a bit of Jet Dry dishwasher additive, if desired. Spray on, rub, and rinse with water.  Especially for exterior windows.

4. The best spot remover.

Recipe: 1 cup Hydrogen Peroxide; 1/2 cup Dawn; 1/2 cup baking soda. Mix well. Spread a bit over the stain, scrub, then let sit for an hour.  Put the item in the washing machine and wash normally. If you have a front loader, you might want to rinse out the stain remover first to decrease suds.

5. Wildlife rescuer.

According to the International Bird Rescue Research Center, Dawn effectively removes grease but does not cause harm to the skin of rescued birds. It’s also biodegradable and contains no phosphates.

6. House insect repellent.

Recipe: Add a drop of Dawn Ultra to a spray bottle of water.  Spritz onto house plants to ward off insects. This will also work with ants in the kitchen.

7. Flea killer.

Bathe your dog using Dawn as shampoo.  It will kill fleas on contact.

8. Tub and shower cleaner.

Recipe: Fill a spray bottle half full of vinegar, then top off with Dawn. Spray onto tub and shower walls, let sit for a few minutes, then rinse off.

9. Toilet un-clogger.

Pour a cup of Dawn into the clogged toilet. Let sit for 15 minutes. Pour in a bucket of hot water from waist height. Flush.

10. Paint remover for the skin.

Recipe: Equal parts corn oil and Dawn. Pour a little of each on a wet rag and scrub dirty hands with it.

11. Sidewalk De-icer.

Recipe: 1 teaspoon Dawn; 1 Tablespoon alcohol; 1/2 gallon warm/hot water.  Pour over frozen stairs or sidewalk. They won’t refreeze.
