6 Reasons Mormons Love Legos

1. Mormons are commanded to build

In the Doctrine & Covenants, a collection of revelations that God has given to contemporary prophets, there is a parable about planting a large vineyard. The master says when the workers are finished they should build a guard tower. But they are tired when the vineyard is finished, and decide to take a break. That night the vineyard is ransacked. They should have built the guard tower.  The prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the watchman on the tower, and the bricks are the commandments Mormons receive through him from God.  We try to get all the bricks in place.

2. Mormons like to build cool stuff

Mormons love to build. They’ve built more than 4500 libraries devoted to family history, 4 universities, 15 training centers for missionaries, chapels for more than 29,000 congregations, and 141 temples. The temples are perhaps the most impressive. Mormons dedicate each temple to be a house to God. They are some of the most impressive buildings you will ever see.

3. Mormons need the chance to start over

Mormons are not perfect. It’s one of the reasons they believe so strongly in Jesus Christ. So just like Legos that let you pull everything apart if you don’t like what you’ve built, Mormons believe we can pull apart and start to build again. Every Mormon has a volunteer Bishop (like a pastor) they can talk to. The Bishop helps Mormons begin to live right again in the sight God through the process of repentance.

4. Mormons grow step by step

Just like Legos that require you add one block at a time, Mormons believe they can get closer to God by making small daily decisions to get closer to Him, things like reading the Bible, going to church, and making good Christian choices.

5. Mormons decide what they become

Is there any feeling better than looking at a brand new pile of Legos and knowing it could turn into virtually anything? That’s the way Mormons look at their whole life. They don’t believe people are inherently evil, or inherently good, but that we choose who we will become.   Luckily, God has given us instructions, if we will only read them…

6. Mormons are always trying to go up up up.

While you can make anything with Legos, what you really want to make is a tower as tall as you can possibly go. Mormons are kind of like that. They are always trying to get closer and closer to God throughout their whole lives, by living like He would live.  Find out how by clicking here.
