6 Things You Didn’t Know About ‘Glorious’ from ‘Meet the Mormons’

Much of the buzz surrounding “Meet the Mormons” was generated by David Archuleta’s featured song “Glorious.” After the release of “Meet the Mormons,” social media feeds continued to highlight different versions of “Glorious” which catapulted the song to the top charts.

  1. Stephanie Mabey from Highland, Utah wrote the lyrics and music of “Glorious.”
  2. Mabey’s wrote the song while her personal world was falling apart in a divorce.
  3. Mabey was originially set to sing “Glorious” for “Meet the Mormons,” but when she came down with laryngitis, they selected David Archuleta to sing the ballad.

  4. The sound production team flew to Chile to record “Glorious” with David Archuleta while he was serving his LDS mission.
  5. “Glorious” was first heard on the final season of “Jersey Shore.” Mabey had a friend that worked at MTV, which led to opportunities for worldwide listeners.

Mabey didn’t write “Glorious” for other vocalists, let alone a male voice. “But it is really satisfying to hear what feels like a different translation of my song,” Mabey said in an interview with Utah Valley 360.
