Model of Washington D.C. Temple on Display

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is now displaying a model of the interior and exterior of the Washington D.C. Temple at the temple’s visitor’s center.

On January 10, local community and religious leaders attended an evening reception to introduce the model. President Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency also attended the reception.

Of the model, Eyring said,

Mormon Newsroom reports that the model was constructed using three-dimensional scans of the inside of the temple. The scans were then used to create the 1:48 scaled replica of the Washington D.C. Temple. The replica includes details of each room, including the furniture, moldings, light fixtures and doors.

After a temple is dedicated, only Church members in good standing can enter the temple. However, prior to a temple’s dedication, the Church will host an open house in the temple where the public is invited to enter and walk through the different rooms of the temple as they learn more about the purpose of the sacred building.
