The LDS Church Reaffirms its Position Following Supreme Court Ruling on Same-Sex Marriage
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a statement June 26, 2015 following the Supreme Court’s ruling giving same-sex couples the right to marry in all 50 states.
The statement reiterated the Church’s stance on marriage,
[pull_quote_center]The Court’s decision does not alter the Lord’s doctrine that marriage is a union between a man and a woman ordained by God. While showing respect for those who think differently, the Church will continue to teach and promote marriage between a man and a woman as a central part of our doctrine and practice.[/pull_quote_center]
The Church also outlined its doctrine and policy on marriage by directing members and nonmembers alike to the document The Divine Institution of Marriage.
