LDS Church Donates Medical Supplies to Papua New Guinea

LDS Charities donated medical supplies to Papua New Guinea as part of a four-month-long U.S. Pacific Fleet humanitarian project.

The Church combined efforts with U.S. military personnel, international leaders, non-governmental organizations and international agencies to help aid Papua New Guinea.

LDS Charities donated 12 pallets of medical supplies. Latter-day Saint volunteers and medical professionals conducted 130 surgical procedures, dispensed 5,604 prescriptions and donated 14,923 units of pharmaceuticals.

Mike Hughes, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the coordinator for the donations, said,

“This is an opportunity to share with those who don’t have the same economic abilities as we do.”
