LDS Mother Goes Viral with Mommy Parodies of ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Yesterday’ Songs

Shannon Christensen Abbott, a mother and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has recently received a lot of attention for her mommy parodies.

In the two weeks since Abbott first posted a video of her singing a mommy version of the song “Hallelujah” to YouTube and Facebook, it has received millions of views. Inspired by the success of “Hallelujah,” posted below, Abbott filmed and posted another mommy parody, this time to Paul McCartney’s famous “Yesterday,” posted above.

On her Facebook page, Abbott explains that she never expected her video to go viral, but that she is “incredibly grateful for it” and “enjoying the ride.”

Abbott also explained on Facebook that she has received a lot of friend requests due to her videos and that she was hesitant at first to add a ton of people she does not know. But, after reflecting on the impact she could have, Abbott said that she thought, “maybe this is a chance to share a little light and kindness in this world,” and decided to welcome her new friends into her life.

“I know that I am a daughter of a loving Father in Heaven,” Abbott wrote. “Through all of this I have experienced immense love and kindness from total strangers. It has lifted my soul and given me hope for our crazy world. There is way more love and goodness in this world than the media or stupid mean people would have us believe. So, to my new friends, I thank you for your love and support and welcome to my special kind of crazy!”
