Celebrate ‘International Day of the Book of Mormon’ on Saturday
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from all over the world will be joining together on social media to celebrate March 26, the International Day of the Book of Mormon.
The More Good Foundation has 13 international teams made up of volunteers who work to share the gospel and publish the truth about the Church. Upon realizing that there was an international day for the Holy Bible, one of the teams suggested setting aside a day to celebrate the Book of Mormon—a book Latter-day Saints read in conjunction with the Bible and believe to be another testament of Jesus Christ.
Since the Church published the first edition on March 26, 1830, the Book of Mormon has been influencing people’s lives all over the world.
Teaming up with Book of Mormon Central, the More Good Foundation is inviting everyone to share how the Book of Mormon has impacted them.
Hwa Lee, one of the organizers of the event, explained, “We want people to understand why Latter-day Saints appreciate the Book of Mormon and how it works with the Bible to testify of Jesus Christ.”
On or before March 26, 2016, those choosing to participating in the International Day of the Book of Mormon are asked to share a photo of themselves reading the book, or of a place they love to read it, with the hashtag #BoMDay. Individuals can also choose to share what they have learned from reading the Book of Mormon. This is not an official Church sponsored event.
