It’s Time to Start Being Judgmental

No one who says “don’t judge” means it. What they are saying is “don’t judge” negatively these specific things that I’ve judged to be good but don’t have a strong enough rationale to defend.

“Don’t judge” is among the broadest, most useless pieces of advice that has taken hold of our collective consciousness. It’s nearly as bad as “be yourself.”

“Don’t judge”? What other normal functioning of my healthy brain should I turn off for you?

Be kind, patient, charitable, and mind your own business. And then please judge. Please bring to bear all of the thoughts and wisdom that you have. Please make wise informed decisions for yourself, your family, and your society. Please consider what is right, do what is right, and advocate for what is right.

And please for the love of a stable society, stop with the nonsense that the only way to be good is to pretend that you can’t tell what good is. You’re embarrassing yourself.
