Archuleta Says It’s Time to be True to Himself
David Archuleta prefaced his first blog post of the new year stating that he needs to be “honest and open about some things.”
The Latter-day Saint pop-singer informed fans that he isn’t the talkative or animated person they see all the time on camera—he’s an introvert. Archuleta reveals that the outgoing persona he took on during years he spent in the spotlight prior to serving a two year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has bothered him.
Archuleta explains that he felt as though his fans were getting to know someone he wasn’t. On his blog he writes,
[pull_quote_center]I was always having to put myself out there because everyone was hounding me to do it. It was very unnatural for me to do it, because I have come to realize that I’m a very introverted person.[/pull_quote_center]
He further explains that somewhere amid all the post-American Idol touring, blog posts, and photos, he lost himself. Archuleta reveals that even though he loves meeting new people, the meet-and-greets following a show drained him to the point that he would find a quiet, empty room—even if it was a bathroom or a closet—just so he could be alone for a time.
It wasn’t until he served his LDS mission in Chile that he says he found himself again. Archuleta disclosed that he doesn’t want to be more energetic or outgoing just so that he can get a larger fan-base saying that fame never mattered to him anyway.
Archuleta describes to his fans who he really is stating that he hates being the center of attention, he enjoys quiet time, and prefers to socialize in smaller groups in order to have more one-on-one time. He explains himself, saying,

Archuleta says that he will continue to make music and to express himself through song as he hopes his fans will feel that he is being real.
