BYUtv Releases New Video: ‘New Day for the Book of Mormon’

Religious leaders from around the country comment on their experiences with the Book of Mormon in a new documentary by BYUtv, entitled “New Day for the Book of Mormon.”

The documentary examines the life of the Book of Mormon from its early days in the E.B. Grandin print shop to its standing in society today. Interest in the Book of Mormon especially sparked with the debut of the satyrical musical, The Book of Mormon, on Broadway in 2011. While this musical is not affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in any way, the Church is using this opportunity to educate the public on what it means to be a Mormon and what the actual Book of Mormon is really about: Jesus Christ.

“What you don’t know until you begin to seriously read it is that Jesus Christ is in it from beginning to end,” one Catholic Theologian in the documentary says. “I would even say that there is more about Jesus Christ in the Book of Mormon than in the Bible.”

A Baptist Minister featured in the film also states, “When I read 1 Nephi, ‘I Nephi having been born of goodly parents,’ I just knew. I kept looking for the weird stuff, but I couldn’t find one thing that contradicted the Bible,” he said. “It is entirely Christ-centered.”

The documentary also features these leaders of other faiths encouraging viewers to read the Book of Mormon themselves. They testify of the power that comes through reading the Book, regardless of the reader’s identified religion.

“You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by reading [the Book of Mormon],” Catherine Stokes, a non-religious leader in the film, said.

To conclude the video, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland testifies of the power of the Book of Mormon, saying,
