Church’s Easter Initiative, ‘Follow Him,’ Expected to Reach Tens of Millions

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched their 2016 Easter initiative yesterday.

The “Follow Him” initiative includes a video that explains how, through Jesus Christ, we too can find new life. Mormon Newsroom reports that the video is expected to reach tens of millions of people all around the world during this year’s Easter season.

Elder Brent H. Nielson of the Seventy works as the executive director of the Missionary Department is the sponsor of this Church initiative. Nielson explained that the video is based off of the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s “Messiah.” Of the video, Niselon said,

[pull_quote_center]Those who watch that will see that ‘hallelujah’ means that we love the Savior, we worship Him, and it will be a portion of that celebration that we try to demonstrate.[/pull_quote_center]

The “Follow Him” video is two minutes in length, features millennials, and was filmed in Los Angeles, New York City and Israel. The Church is sharing the video on social media, displays in select visitors’ centers, and in online paid promotion on Internet sites.

“Follow Him” is available in 29 different languages. Watch the video in English, shared above.

In addition to the above video, the Church has created a second video to address how the Christ’s Atonement and Resurrection help people cope with death, guilt, pain and other burdens we feel in life. Watch this additional video, shared below.

The same day the Church released the “Follow Him” campaign, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir also released a video of a virtual choir singing “Hallelujah.”

Vocalists from around the world, including students celebrities and politicians, submitted 2,500 videos all together, hoping to be featured in the world’s largest “Hallelujah” chorus. Watch the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s video, below.
