Deseret Book Will Publish Their First Book Depicting a Heavenly Mother

In the new children’s book, Our Heavenly Family, Our Earthly Families, authors McArthur Krishna and Bethany Brady Spalding team up again to represent how earthly families follow an eternal family template, which includes a Mother in Heaven.

For the first time in the history of Deseret Book publishing, a publication will include a depiction of our Heavenly Mother. Not only will the children’s book explain about both of our Heavenly Parents, but the cover of the book will also include an artist’s rendering of our Heavenly Father and Mother together.

Cover Our Heavenly FamilyWith Caitlin Connolly as the illustrator, McArthur Krishna and Bethany Brady Spalding create a clear vision of how earthly families are patterned after our Heavenly Family. Krishna and Spalding previously wrote Girls Who Choose God: Stories of Courageous Women from the Bible and Girls Who Choose God: Stories of Strong Women from the Book of Mormon, with Kathleen Peterson as their illustrator.

Deseret Book, which is a publishing company owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, includes a description of the book on their website.

“Celebrating distinctive LDS doctrines, this landmark children’s book illuminates the essential role of families both in heaven and on earth. No matter where we live, what we look like, or what we believe, all of us are children of Heavenly Parents who love us perfectly. Our Heavenly Parents gave us the gift of earthly families to help us grow and become like Them. Families are the best school for learning how to love, forgive, cooperate, pray, create, work, play, and figure out how to be with each other forever. Depicting the deep joys as well as the messy realities of family life, this book will inspire you and those you love to practice building an eternal family every day.”

Our Heavenly Family, Our Earthly Families will be published on August 22, 2016, and is available for pre-order.
