Judges Cut Alex Boyé from ‘America’s Got Talent’ Competition

After Alex Boye’s America’s Got Talent audition in June, Howie Mandel said that in his six years as a judge, Boye was his “favorite music act ever.” However, Boye’s performance on tonight’s Judge Cuts episode did not produce the same results.

The 44-year-old entertainer explained that he has been pursuing a singing career in America for the past 15 years. “It’s definitely been a struggle. So, I’ve got to step up now. I’ve got to bring so much more than I did before,” Boye said. “Our goal is to perform on this stage like it is the last time we are ever, ever gonna perform, ever again.”

The London-native and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints performed a rendition of “Uptown Funk,” leaving the judges with mixed reviews of his performance.

Judge Mel B stated that the power coming from the stage was “undeniable” and that the band brought their A-game. However, she also admitted that she felt Boye was “under-rehearsed.”

Heidi Klum disagreed with Mel B and told Boye,

Prior to finding out whether or not he made it to the next round of the competition, Alex stated,

[pull_quote_center]I’m just going crazy right now, I need this so badly. I mean, it’s just, I’m just aching right now for it.[/pull_quote_center]

The judges can only put seven acts through out of the 20 that performed. Unfortunately, Boye received the news that he would not go on to perform at Radio City Music Hall.

The entertainer described the feeling of rejection as “heartbreaking.”
