LDS Film ’16 Stones’ to Hit Theaters Next Month
Candlelight Media is gearing up to release their newest film, Sixteen Stones. The historical fiction movie compares faith to proof as it looks to convey the message that oftentimes faith carries more influence on a person than proof.
The film follows the story of young Latter-day Saint, Thomas, living in the 1830’s. In the movie, Thomas has just returned home from a mission in the Midwestern states. While on his mission, he met a Native American who claimed to have ancestors who traveled across the seas to America in what he called eight “turtle boats.” Realizing that this story matched that of the Jaredites from the Book of Mormon, Thomas comes to believe he can prove to people the Book of Mormon is true.
He sets out to do this by embarking on a journey to find the 16 stones the Jaredites used to light the barges, or “turtle boats,” used to cross the seas. As Thomas sets out to find these stones, he encounters numerous obstacles and challenges which reveal to him one important lesson. Herald Extra quotes the director, Brian Brough, as he explains what this lesson is:

The film will also be shown in parts of Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, California, Nevada and Canada. The majority of these showing will begin on October 24.
