Mormon Minute: Weekly LDS News Recap for August 19, 2015

LDS.net’s Mormon Minute recaps LDS news that’s happening in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This week, we talk about: the release of the third volume of The Joseph Smith Papers Project, temple construction and dedication updates, and a tribute album to Michael McLean.

0:07 – Seer Stone Photos in Volume 3 of Joseph Smith Papers

Volume three of the Joseph Smith Papers Project was released earlier this month at a press conference at the Church History Library. Within parts one and two of the newest volume, are pictures of the seer stones used by Joseph Smith to translate The Book of Mormon. A more in depth article about the stones will appear in the October issue of the Ensign.

0:26 – Temple Dedication and Groundbreakings

The building of temples continues to move forward with the Mexico City temple open house going on until September 5th, with the dedication taking place on Sunday, September 13th. Two more temples will also have groundbreakings soon: the Concepción, Chile and Tucson, Arizona temples both taking place on October 17th.

0:45 – Michael McLean Tribute Album

And LDS artists came together to collaborate on an album that pays tribute to the music of Michael McLean. Artists including Neon Trees’ Elaine Bradley, American Idol finalist Brooke White, and the voice contestant Ryan Innes were just a few of the talented artists who covered some of McLean’s most well-loved songs.
