Mormon Minute: Weekly LDS News Recap for August 5, 2015
LDS.net’s Mormon Minute recaps LDS news that’s happening in the Mormon world. This week, we talk about: the Church’s reaction to the Boy Scouts of America vote, FamilySearch’s “Fuel the Fire” event, and Jenny Oaks Baker’s latest arrangement.
0:07 – Boy Scouts Partnership
This month Church leadership is re-evaluating their relationship with the Boy Scouts of America Organization following a vote to allow openly gay leaders. The Church expressed concern on the decision and also admitted that they’ve been looking to make adjustments for some time since half of the youth of the Church don’t have access to the scouting program.
0:26 – Fuel the Fire Indexing Event
Familysearch is looking for 100,000 volunteers to index names from August 7-14 as part of their “Fuel the Fire” event. They hope to beat the current record of indexing 92,000 batches in a single week. You can find more information about the event at familysearch.org.
0:44 – Jenny Oaks Baker Music Video
And Jenny Oaks Baker’s latest music video is an arrangement of “Love is Spoken Here,” performed with her family.
