Mormon Minute: Weekly LDS News Recap for September 9, 2015
LDS.net’s Mormon Minute recaps LDS news that’s happening in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This week, we talk about: paying tithing online for members living in the United States, Elder Holland’s visit to Southeast Asia, and casting for the Saturday’s Warrior motion picture.
0:07 – Paying Tithing Online
Members of the Church living in the United States can now pay their tithing online through the churchofjesuschrist.org/donations page. After signing on, payments can be made for tithing, fast offerings, church humanitarian efforts, and even for specific missionaries. Members can transfer funds from their checking or savings accounts but will not be able to use credit cards. While other online bill pay systems allow users to schedule automatic payments, this will not be available on the donations system.
0:35 – Elder Holland Visits Southeast Asia
Elder Holland recently traveled to Southeast Asia to visit members in Cambodia and Vietnam. It was the first time in three years that an Apostle had visited Cambodian members, with over 2,000 people gathered to hear his remarks. Holland also encouraged the Vietnamese members to learn all they can from the resources the Church provides and to blaze a path for others to follow.
0:57 – Saturday’s Warrior Cast
‘Saturday’s Warrior,’ the motion picture, revealed its principal cast for the 2016 film. A 17 year-old singer/songwriter from Arizona will play the part of Jimmy Flinders and brings along a fan base with over one million Instagram followers. Alex Boye’ also joined the cast to play the role of heavenly guide. Videos on the film’s YouTube page show cast members sharing their excitement to take part in the project.
