Mormons Offered $300,000 on Shark Tank

A Provo start-up, PhoneSoap, and its Mormon founders were featured on Shark Tank last week, shown above.

Co-founders Wesley LaPorte and Dan Barns, cousins who attended BYU, pitched their successful cell phone sanitizing product to Shark Tank investors.

The idea for PhoneSoap originated in the labs at BYU, since its inception the product has taken off. PhoneSoap has previously appeared on the The Today Show, The View, The Doctors and The Discovery Channel.

LaPorte and Barns asked Shark Tank investors for a $300,000 investment in return for 7.5 percent of their company. The PhoneSoap founders closed the deal with Lori Greiner for $300,000 in exchange for 10 percent of equity stake in PhoneSoap.
