Search for Missing Returned Missionary Continues

Elizabeth “Elena” Laguna-Salgado, a recently returned missionary living in Provo, Utah, was reported missing on Thursday, April 16, 2015.

Provo Police report that 26-year-old Laguna-Salgado, who had only lived in Utah for a month, was last seen leaving the Nomen Global Language Center, an English language learning school in Provo.

Rosemberg Salgado, Elena’s uncle, told Deseret News that Elena holds a college degree and recently returned from a mission in Pachuca, Mexico, for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rosemberg said that Elena was “always looking for opportunities to get people close to the church.”

The Salgados, most of whom reside in Mexico, are in close communication with the Provo police and are assisting them in the investigation.

Laguna-Salgado lived in the Branbury Apartments in Provo and is described as being 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-5, 120 to 130 pounds, with long black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a denim jacket, blue jeans, black or brown knee-high boots, and was carrying a denim handbag with red straps.
