‘The Christmas Dragon’ Climbs LDS Bestsellers List in Time for Holidays

Positive reviews keep coming for the new movie, “The Christmas Dragon,” which is quickly climbing the LDS Bestsellers list for the upcoming holiday season. The movie premiered on November 5, 2014, and many members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints praise the movie as a must-see.

The movie tells viewers the story of Ayden, a young orphan girl. Ayden receives a magic crystal and attempts to save Christmas after finding out that the North has lost all of its magic. Along her journey, Ayden and her friends face dragons, goblins, ogres, and other fantasy creatures. Since Santa’s magic cannot overpower the evil of the forest, Ayden and her friends must attempt to save Christmas with the help of a young dragon.

LDS Living outlines reasons they believe this movie is doing so well. Those reasons are as follows:

  • It’s family friendly – “The Christmas Dragon” is a true family film as it is full of clean entertainment that all ages can enjoy.
  • It incorporates fantasy, without the gore – Many popular adventure films that bring sci-fi and fantasy to life also include gore and violence. This film still brings to life the fantasy of the adventure told without being full of dark violence and gore.
  • It’s unquestionably unique- These days it can be hard to find a movie with a storyline that hasn’t been told time and again. The creators of “The Christmas Dragon” successfully bring fantasy, dragons, and Christmas together for an enjoyably unique movie.
  • It has an uplifting message- With kids standing for what is right, there is an additional underlying message of giving and of forgiving can bring inspiration to all who watch the film.
