Rarely do students think that a school assignment will open up a new passion in life. But that’s exactly what happened with BYU students Taylor Miranda and Eliza Smith.

When the two received the assignment to write a song for the final film of the Hunger Game’s series, Miranda and Smith brought on their friends Richard Williams and Nate Young and actually try to get the song into the movie. It wasn’t long before TREN was born and the musicians began creating additional pieces.

Although the band was unable to get their song “Live or Survive” into the movie, they still saw some success. TREN is currently down a band member until Smith completes her 18-month mission
