Do Latter-day Saints believe in the Rapture? Ep. 140

You won’t hear Latter-day Saints talking about the rapture, simply because it’s not a part of our traditional jargon. But as it turns out, Latter-day Saints do *sort of* believe in a form of the rapture. In this episode, Dave talks about what this doctrine looks like within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (sometimes called Mormons).

Notes:

— In Zechariah 14 it is prophesied that in the last days all nations will come up to battle against Israel, but before Israel is annihilated, Jesus Christ will descend on the Mount of Olives, the Mount will be split in two, providing a way of escape for the surviving Jews, who will recognize their long-awaited Savior as the one and only Jesus Christ.

While this is a public appearance of the Savior, Latter-day Saints believe that it is an appearance that precedes the official Second Coming of Christ. At the Second Coming, the entire world will be aware of Christ’s appearance, which will mark the beginning of His millennial reign.
